Mobile Hotspot has made operation “paperless, wireless and more efficient”
Bakersfield, CA and Vancouver, BC, Canada, July 6, 2010 – In Motion Technology, the leader in mobile networking technologies that efficiently connect and manage equipment, information and people in the field, today announced that Hall Ambulance has deployed the company’s patented mobile hotspot technology for onboard communications, and fleet and inventory management.
Deployed throughout Hall’s fleet of ambulances and command vehicles, In Motion’s onBoard Mobile Gateway turns each vehicle into a mobile hotspot and provides secure, reliable connectivity to dispatchers, area hospitals and administrative systems.
“With In Motion Technology, managing our operations is paperless, wireless, and highly efficient,” said Pete Sturn, Manager of Hall’s MIS division. “This has reduced our response times, lowered our inventory and administrative costs, and allows us to provide the people of Kern County with world-class service.”
“We have storage rooms full of technology that became obsolete as soon as wireless networks changed,” said Sturn. “The onBoard Mobile Gateway connects all of our onboard devices, and allows us to change or add networks in a few minutes with no additional capital cost. With In Motion, we also know we have a supplier that will deliver.”
With the Gateway in its fleet, crews in the field can get dispatch information, turn-by-turn directions to calls, and send electronic patient care records to hospitals and billing department en-route. Crews can take inventory of onboard medications and supplies using hand-held scanners, and wirelessly upload information to a central inventory management system. Hall vehicles can be restocked as soon as they return to the station, allowing just-in-time inventory management, and rapid shift changes
In the future, Hall Ambulance anticipates using the Gateway to send diagnostic-quality ECG data and other lifesaving information to emergency room doctors before the patient arrives. The Gateway will also enable Hall’s fleet management staff to remotely monitor vehicle diagnostic and performance information to extend vehicle lives and prevent costly breakdowns.
“The pace of change in the wireless industry increases every year, and keeping up can be costly, time consuming and distracting,” said Tony Morris, In Motion’s VP of Sales and Marketing. “We’re pleased to enable emergency fleets to quickly and cost effectively upgrade, change or add networks, and equip their vehicles with the latest communications technology.”
