About the Opportunity:

At In Motion Technology we are proud of our products and the impact of our solutions on real world mission critical applications. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and working closely with key stakeholders in the company (e.g. CTO Office, Product Management), our new Principal Engineer – Embedded Systems will be the chief architect and developer of the next generation platform required to support and deliver on the demands and expectations of both existing and new markets.

You’ll be the resident expert that other team members turn to for questions related to the platform and make recommendations on all problems related to the Embedded Platform supporting a wide range of hardware. The scope of your work will include conducting technical evaluations, system specification, design, tool development and technical reviews to ensure ongoing technical integrity of the products.

This role is ideal for a senior engineer who wants to be involved in an early stage company, developing a strong foundation for a family of products that will be deployed in high volume in different mobile applications. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designing and implementing wireless product and solutions
Acting as technical expert to support our S&M teams on major business opportunities
Acting as mentor to other technical staff for individual career development as well as team development
Identifying technology trends and evolving open source projects that may support or impede the success of the business
Participating as a member of the senior technical team in establishing engineering processes and control to ensure that company objectives are achieved
Taking on a technical lead role on the assigned engineering project

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent with over 10 years of progressive career experience.
Experience in developing at least one commercially successful embedded product from concept to production.
Expert in Linux kernel and network device driver development including architecture and development frameworks
Deep knowledge of networking protocols (eg. 802.11, IPV4/V6, Routing, Security, Traffic Management, QoS, DNS, VPN)
Expert in firmware or embedded software development and debugging including hardware integration
Working knowledge of hardware development and tools (eg. Digital scope, schematic review, different debuggers,etc.)
Strong knowledge of at least one modern Telecommunication systems (eg. LTE, WiMAX, GSM, CDMA)
Demonstrated success in building commercial embedded products and solutions in the wireless industry
Expert C / C++ programmer
Experience in Java, Python, and other scripting languages
Ability to work well with others from engineering and non-engineering disciplines in a fast-paced team environment

SKILLS:

Building Linux distributions
Developing with different Linux file systems
Extensive experience with manufacturing engineering
RF system knowledge of modern Telecommunication systems
